Contemporary, steamy romance.
- Addictiveness: Highly addictive! It can be read in one sitting. Is fast-paced, funny and hot!!!
- Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 I loved both main characters. They were easy to connect and understand. Grayson was dreamy. Really alpha with a wonderful caring side. His bouts of jealousy was cute and not overbearing. Lucy was also great. She reminded me of my 19 year old daughter and her lists and plans of her future. 🙂
- Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 4/5 I love the cover is sexy and catching. I only wished that I could “read”more of the story in it. The title is perfect! I would buy this book without reading the blurb!
- Freshness: Even though the story doesn’t have anything we could say WOW, how different, the overall book has a fresh vibe. The plot is cute and unique.
- Plot: believable 3.5/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5 Great opening and wonderful ending. Good conflict and sexy/funny. Fast-paced with enough subplots to enhance the story. A few unexpected twists here and there, that makes this story believable and enjoyable. I love how the author showed a more real side into a cop’s daily routine.
- Romance: believable 3.5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4/5, steam 4/5 A bit too insta-love, but their chemistry was explosive and the author’s description were amazing. A lot of great smut here! Oh…. that first car scene… fanning myself here.
- Writing Style: Amazing characters, good plot and great romance. What else could I want from a romance novel?
- My one problem here was how fast it all happened. Grayson wasn’t into relationships and suddenly he is even talking about extra bedrooms for kids. It didn’t feel believable.
My first book by the author, but it won’t be my last. This is the type of story that you can immerse yourself for a couple of hours and feel good. Yes, there were a couple of sad moments, but the overall feeling here was happiness.

“So this is our first date.” He scooted closer so that we were touching, smiling a little.
“I guess it is.” I took a sip of wine and smiled back at him.
“So it’s time you interviewed me, right?” His smirk was on full display.
“Cute. Real cute. I’m not asking you the Manlist questions.” I blushed and was glad the darkness covered it.
“I’ll be disappointed if you don’t.” He draped one arm around my shoulders. “Come on. You know you want to.”
I sighed, but I couldn’t help but laugh.
“All right. The first question is about your job. I already know what you do for a living.” I squeezed his hand where it rested on my shoulder.
“And how do you feel about that now? Nothing’s changed since a few hours ago when you were insisting you couldn’t date a cop.” His low voice in my ear made me shiver.
“I know. I still don’t like it, but I see how much you love it. I also see how much good you do with it, so I will do my best not to worry too much.” I took another sip of wine, and then I ran my hand down his strong thigh.
“Okay. I passed question number one, finally. What is question two?” He used his free hand to capture my wandering hand and press it higher up on his thigh. I shivered again, a fact that did not go unnoticed by his sharp gray eyes.
“Um, good living situation. Where do you live? I feel silly that I don’t know the answer to that.” And I didn’t really care. I was very aware of where my hand was at that moment, and I wanted to move it over a few inches.
The server came back with our fried pickles, and I dipped one into the chilled ranch sauce before popping it into my mouth, savoring the sharp flavor.
“I have a small house over on Peach Street. I bought it as a foreclosure last year, mainly because I was sick of living in crowded apartments with no privacy. It was a fixer-upper, so that’s what I’ve been doing for the past year in my spare time. Renovating.” He laughed a little. “I don’t have a lot of do it yourself skills, so most of my time has been spent cussing and watching YouTube videos. But I managed to get the kitchen completely redone with the help of a friend or two, and I ripped out the carpet and refinished the hardwood floors all by myself. I’ve done a lot of painting, too.”
“That’s impressive.” It was impressive, but I took advantage of his pause in speaking to move my hand over a bit in the darkness.
He cut his eyes over at me. He knew what I was doing. “I took some time off from the facelift of the house to deal with a pipe that was leaking in the foundation. That was a nightmare. Now I’m working on the master bathroom.”
I flexed my fingers. Grayson grunted and closed his hand over mine, pulling it even closer to my goal.
I bit my lip. I could feel him growing hard beneath my questing fingers, lengthening in an awe inspiring way. I squirmed.
Grayson leaned in to whisper in my ear again. “When you spend the night tonight, and you will, just remember to use the guest bath. The master bath is a construction zone.”
I shivered as his breath tickled my ear, and his tongue flicked out ever so slightly to caress my earlobe.
Grayson grabbed a pickle, and I snatched one up, too.
“What’s number three?” He bit my ear the tiniest bit.
“Huh?” I couldn’t remember what we had been talking about.
Grayson laughed. “Focus, Lucy. Manlist. Question number three.”
“Oh.” I straightened and shook my head a little to clear it. “Are you loving and caring?”
“I’m going to take you home in a few minutes and show you just how loving and caring I can be.” His voice was a low growl in my ear, and I squeezed him with my hand.
Grayson rewarded me with a soft kiss on the side of my neck, and then one more on my temple.
“Next item on the list isn’t a question, exactly. I think it says something about temper tantrums.” I started stroking him again with my fingers, and then I alternated my strokes with gentle squeezes.
Grayson grunted. “I’m so fucking hard for you right now.” He shifted his legs. “I don’t have much of a temper, or at least I didn’t think I did until I saw you with that idiot walking down Main Street tonight.”
I nuzzled his shoulder. “I’m not attracted to Charlie.”
“Better not be. I’m not sharing.” He planted another kiss on my neck, making me squirm.
“How do you feel about animals?” Another teasing flex of my fingers, another questing squeeze.
“What?” He pulled back in surprise, eyebrows raised as he stared at me.
I laughed. “That’s the next question on the Manlist. How do you feel about animals?”
“Oh. You worried me for a second, fireball. I fucking love animals. I’ve been thinking about getting a dog.” He did something wicked with his tongue and my ear, and I moaned aloud.
I glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention to us.
He chuckled. “You liked that one, didn’t you?”
“Yes, for sure. Can we speed this interview up?” I was so ready to get out of here. I chugged my wine like it was water, and Grayson laughed even harder. He poured us both more wine.
“Good thing my house is in walking distance. What’s the next question?” He put the bottle back down on the table, and then he held my mason jar up to my lips.
“You trying to get me drunk?” I took a long sip, and then a second one. “The next item is about being able to trust you.”
“I don’t need you drunk to get you naked.” He kissed me on the lips, feather soft. “And I think you know you can trust me. I have no interest in hurting you.” Another butterfly kiss. “I’d rather hurt myself than hurt you, and that’s no line.”
Touched, I surrendered to his kisses, again glad for the darkened room and the absence of patrons in the bar. Our tongues met and stroked.
“Do you play video games?” I kissed him this time. In the distance, I heard a low rumble of thunder.
The pickles were delicious, but we had abandoned them in favor of kissing. Grayson’s kisses were far more delicious than any appetizer.
My question surprised a laugh out of him. “No, I’m not much of a fan.”
“Good. Do you want to be a father one day? Not anytime soon, don’t worry.” I nuzzled him again. God, he smelled so delicious.
“Yes. I want kids. My house has four bedrooms. Granted, they are all tiny, but I have imagined one day putting children in those extra rooms, maybe.” He took a drink of his wine, and then he slipped his hand between my thighs hidden by the wooden table, capturing my pussy in his strong grip.
The pleasure that shot through my body almost hurt me with its intensity.
“Okay.” I struggled to catch my breath. “Only two questions to go.”
“Thank fuck.” He started lazily moving one single finger against my clit, and I gasped.
“The next item is about you being attractive. You’ve got that covered.” I gasped again. That dirty finger was killing me.
“I’ve got it covered?” He pressed with that one finger, and I almost came right there. “What’s the last question, Lucy? I’m dying here.”
“Do you know right from wrong? That’s the last one.” I squirmed in my seat and drained the last of my wine.
I watched him do the same with his own mason jar. Grayson put it down with a satisfying clunk. Another round of thunder, this time louder, could be heard in the background.
“I hope so since I’m a police officer, charged with enforcing the law. But I know right now if I don’t get you naked and under me soon, I’m going to die. We’ve got to get out of here before we start violating all sorts of public indecency laws.” His voice was trembling, and that was all I could take.
I stood with such swiftness I almost toppled the table over. Grayson was right behind me. He dropped a tip and money for the food on the end of the bar for our server, and we hit the exit, laughing like teenagers when we emerged into the warm evening air.
