Roark is a bitter, lonely wolf. He lives for his job as the enforcer of the Blue Pine Pack. He has known tragedy, and to avoid further pain, has decided to stay alone. But is he strong enough to fight the mating call of the wolf?
Emma is the bastard child of the alpha of the Blue Pine Pack. A curvy wolf in a world where everybody is slim and fit, she has been bullied her whole life, starting with her father and sister. Now she is being forced to married, but she has known her true mate for the last six years, and it isn’t her husband-to-be. Will she need to run away from her true love, to avoid an unhappy life?
Loving the Wild Wolf is a short, hot novella. It has great characters, that are easy to love and connect with, and good villains that are easy to hate and dislike. The chemistry between characters is undeniable, and it has some good passionate scenes and great passionate thoughts.
The plot is ok, but it has some issues. First the bullying towards Emma is excessive. The author goes to extreme to shows this very important topic. Also the angst of the hero is a bit too much. The tension of the story is lacking, with the conflict/climax moment happening too fast. I felt the story a bit rushed at the end.
I believe this must be a first book of a series, and I will be on the look out for what comes next. Ms. Richards characters are very well created, and she has thrown in some interesting secondary characters that I would love to know more about. I would also enjoy reading more about how Roark and Emma relationship and position on the pack progress.
You may read this book because you enjoy shifters; you should read this book if you are looking for a fun, hot read; you MUST read this book because you like meeting great characters, and you enjoy seeing their growth during a read!
