As chaos looms, a warrior queen is reborn
Bookish academic Diana Laughton has been having terrible dreams. Dreams of battle, dreams of blood... dreams so vivid she's living them day and night. When demons invade her quiet life, she wonders if she's going mad. Or if perhaps she's remembering a past life she had no idea existed...
In the midst of betrayal, he must protect her
Mythean Guardian Cadan Trinovante loved and betrayed Britain's warrior queen Boudica two millennia ago. Now he's tasked with protecting mortals whose lives affect the fate of humanity. His latest assignment is Boudica herself, reincarnated as a woman with no idea of her past or her fated future. Though in the irresistible form of Diana Laughton, it's possible Cadan has once again met his match...
To succumb to seduction could prove fatal
Thrown together in a shadowy world that exists alongside our own, Diana and Cadan must fight not only the demonic forces that want Diana dead, but a past and a passion that have lasted centuries. Their desire could be deadly. But as evil from the underworld unites against them, their only hope could be each other.
Wow!!! I’m amazed! I was not expecting this at all!
Diana Laughton has been plagued her whole life with strange nightmares. Lately they have grown in feelings and she hasn’t been able to sleep much. Out of nowhere she is brought into a world of magic, demons, afterlife and reincarnation. There she meets a tall, dark and dangerous warrior, that feels a lot more intimate than he should be. Will she survive this new world? Can she do what fate has arranged for her? Will she learn how to forgive and move on?
Cadan Trinovante has been living for the last two thousand years blaming himself and trying to atone his sins. Suddenly fate has brought back the love of his life, letting him know he needs to protect her until she must dies again. Set on the path of not letting her go this time, he blurs the lines of right and wrong, of truth and deception. Will he commit the same mistakes once again? Does he future may bring a different outcome?
Braving Fate is a fast-paced story of love, vengeance and of righting the wrongs. In a time when people solved their problems with blood and death, a Queen killed for vengeance, and a lover lied to protect. In a different time, when a second chance arise, they must fight internal turmoils to find balance inside themselves.
Ms. Hall has given her own spin to a real life event. Better yet, she has given a historical hero a second chance. Being a history buff myself, I was delighted to see this twist to history. Even though she has created a plot based on an event, she has masterfully turn it into her own thing and has wonderfully created a world of magic and mythology.
The author brings up important themes such as hell, heaven and afterlife. Even though the story is an intense one born out of pain and suffering, Ms. Hall lightens the mood, giving the heroine an ironic internal voice, that offers the reader a few good laughs.
Both main characters are amazing. They are multi-dimensional and easy to love, connect and relate. Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of “Boadicea”‘s choice in life, I could see she had reasons to her actions, specially in a world so totally different than todays. But Diana, made me a believer. Her soft side, was the perfect counterpart to “Boadicea”‘s hard shell.
I’m so looking forward to reading this series, that I can’t believe it took me so long to find out about it.
You may read this because you like Fantasy; you should read this because you enjoy an erotic romance; but you MUST read this if you want to be historically WOWED!
“Killing your enemy is no sacrifice. It’s like a shepherd sacrificing a wolf and asking the gods to keep the wolf’s brothers from attacking his flock.”
