Even though people fear me, it doesn’t stop any of their torment.
I’d always just existed and walked alone, until now.
Now? Now I belong.

Just because I’d learned to kill, doesn’t mean the Bloody Psychos trust me.
Skeeter’s got his work cut out, trying to keep his boss from killing me.
Well, the asshole can try.

My trigger finger’s getting itchy, and I have a problem controlling it.
Especially when the Devil’s Armada Crew roll into town.
Shit’s about to get crazy.

The Devil’s leader has history with the Psychos, and I’m pretty sure bullets are about to fly.
Couldn’t be worse, right? Wrong.
The Devils aren’t the only ones who heard about my sudden taste for blood.

Just when I thought I had everything under control, life throws more at me.
Sides are taken and lives are at risk, making me wonder if I’ll get out alive after all.
Everything’s about to come undone.

Murder’s not so much fun when it’s one of your own that die.
No one hurts my family and gets away with it.
They should have known that red’s my favourite colour.

This is book #2 of the Watch Me Burn series and it can’t be read as a standalone. You must have read the first book to understand this one. It ends in a huge cliffhanger.

Contains issues and situations some may find triggering.

Mind-blown!!! This only got crazier and darker.

This series is only for those that truly like dark romance. No joke, it has all sort of triggers you may think. But if you like your stories twisted, start reading it now!

In this second statement, Ms. Bond has added more characters into the mix, but it was still very cohesive and they all felt pertinent to Rory’s journey.

PAINFUL LOVE!!!

33/35 STARS –  4.5 STARS (between31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Addictiveness: 5 Character: 4.5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 5 Plot: 4 Romance: 4.5 Writing Style: 5

Action 5/5 Angst 5/5 Darkness 5/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of dark, twisted romance!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 5/5 This series hooked me on the first page of the first book and I have caught myself thinking about it from time to time. This story arch was intense, very dark and crazy. It kept me at the edge of my seat, and the end… OMG!!! As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 4/5, heroine 4.5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 4/5 Multifaceted characters with amazing background stories and great personal growth during the story.

Aurora/Rory was a kick-ass heroine. In this second book she was harder, tougher, definitely more annoying than in the first. Her personal story arch has definitely shown an enormous personal growth. It was easy to forget how young she is, because life has only given her lemons. She was drowning and felt most of the book like she had no life jacket to keep her above water. She was really frustrating and some of her acts felt disjoined from the story arch of the first book. I’m looking forward to see where will book #3 take her.

Skeeter was still my favorite bad boy. 🙂 Like Aurora, he was really annoying most of this book. He kept messing up badly and they were so volatile together, it always ended in an explosion. I really enjoyed to read a bit more of his background and to know him better.

Caden was great here. He evolved a lot from the first book and I was totally digging him here. I only think that they were placed some in the background here and the shed/crew plot was given more light. ( I still don’t know how I feel about that)

Tyler has really grown on me. On the first book I felt like he was unnecessary. Well, sorry Ty, you were so needed here.

Jensen that I loved on the first, sort of became more of a secondary in this second book. There was no problem with that, in this story arch, that were so many important characters that was impossible to keep them all as main characters.

Lukas felt unnecessary on the first book, and really made me dislike him here. Yeah, I know, he has a reason on his subplot with Jensen and in Rory’s past, but I still can’t understand him at all.

Slash was an unexpected surprise! You know what, I think I liked him.

Diesel I felt for him, at the same time I don’t really know what to think. Will he always be secondary, or will he be part of the harem? There are so many extra pieces here.

Hunter I like it. 🙂 Yeah, I hope Ms. Bond doesn’t make me regret this. But if they will all come in duos, Skeet deserves his partner. (Yeah, I know, the real lucky one is Rory.)

Secondary characters with so many important characters there are only a few I will mention here. Josie, I still like her. Oh, Lukas mother and Claire. Yeah!

Villain/antagonists in a story that the main characters are all more like antiheroes, there is a fine line between antagonist and villain. One clear villain with the Soldier crew. Several question marks with the Devils and Claire.

They were easy (ok, maybe not that easy) to love, to connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 2/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This art work is amazing!!! I would say the image could be Skeet, but the subtitle is of someone else. (Sorry for being evasive at times, but I always try to avoid spoilers). It feels intense, it gives hints of the story and it is sexy! tI would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 5/5 ONE-OF-A-KIND! This is so crazy and twisted that is impossible to compare to other stories out there. It is very original and unique. As fresh as water during summer in the middle of the desert!!!

Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5  Amazing opening with an incredible ending. Superb plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Great setting, a few really good subplots with unexpected twists. High level of enjoyment!

It was filled of twists and turns and it kept me guessing until the end. For several moments I felt like throwing my kindle because I couldn’t believe what was happening. This was definitely an action-packed story, there was a lot going on, and there was never a dull moment. Was there a lot going on? I’m still on the fence here.

O.M.G, I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. I mean, what was that? How long do I need to wait now?

Romance: believable 3/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 3.5/5, steam 5/5  Some would say not very romantic :). This is hot!!! I mean, very, extremely hot! Panty-wetter hot! Needing-a-cold-shower hot! But it also got me confused at times. How many people will this harem have? Oh, I love a gang-bang in books, but I only hope that it all make sense in the end. Hurtful romance!!!

Writing Style: 5/5 So, so, so good! Complex characters with great story arch, twisted plot, intense romance, super sexy smut in a cohesive and clean writing style. What is not to like? Work of a wordsmith!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…

Plot: There is a lot going on here… maybe too much. I’m still on the fence. A few subplots for me felt unnecessary, but I know the author could cohesively make it all pertinent at the end.

It felt like the first book was mostly about high school life and the kings, and this one about crew life and the bosses. I’m looking forward to see the author intertwining both settings/plots in a seamless way, in which all of the characters could shine. I missed more of the king quartet here (or maybe trio, because Lukas, don’t miss him yet)

Romance: How many is too many in a reverse harem? This is definitely a question that I haven’t asked myself before. I still don’t know if I will have to ask here. I really can’t wait to find out!!!

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like dark romance; you MUST read this because is truly mind-blowing!!!

My dad’s an asshole. Plain and simple.
He’s made it obvious that I can only ever rely on myself.
Until I meet them.

Caden, Tyler, Jensen, and Lukas.
My new stepbrother and his best friends have suddenly become my everything.
Until they aren’t.

They think they can break me, but they’re dead wrong.
They wouldn’t have bet on me having someone else on my side, or in my bed.
These rich boys haven’t seen anything yet.

Their pretty lies are nothing compared to what’s coming though, and I’m going to need them to anchor me when I finally break.

Death is coming to those who deserve it, and I don’t care if I lose myself in the process.
Did I mention the local street crew being on my side?
No one will ever see me coming.

My name’s Rory Donovan, and I’m about to paint the walls red.

*Pretty Lies is a 75k word dark romance reverse harem novel. This is the first book in the series and it must be read in order. The first four books are Rory's, and the harem grows over those books, so other guys will be added as the story goes. It contain abuse and rape content, and the series will have m/m. If you are triggered by sensitive content, this series is not for you.

WOW! Hot, twisted and dangerous!!!

New to me author that has completely played with my mind.

All characters were wacky, the plot was really dark and the smut was scorching hot!!!

EXCRUCIATING LOVE!!!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 5/5 I created a bond with Rory in the first chapter and became really invested in her happiness from that point on. The author kept me on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait for the rest!!! As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Very complex characters with great story arch and background.

Aurora/Rory was an awesome heroine. Oh, she was so strong and brave, even when it felt she was completely alone in the world. I loved her growth during this book.

Caden was a good antihero. Yeah, he was a bad boy and even when he was hateful, I was unable to hate him. He also grew a lot during the book.

Jensen was an amazing antihero. I really loved him. He was supposed to be a big bully, but he felt like a softie a lot of times. He also had his too-stupid-to-live moment, but they were all teens.

Tyler was very average for me. In fact, I still don’t know much about him or his personality.

Lukas, was the one I wanted to like, and I have completely disliked him. He felt bland and with no real personality. His excuses for his past actions were horrible and he didn’t seem to have changed much.

Skeeter was my favorite!!! Oh, I loved him! I really hope he become something major, because I need a lot more of him. Hot, so so so hot!!!

Secondary characters they were all relevant to the story and added important pieces to the main characters background stories.

Villain/antagonists two clear villains and a few unclear antagonists. In fact, I have no idea, where this will be going forward.

I love this cover! It really grabbed my attention and it had me staring at it, trying to fully understand it. I love the snippet given with the subtitle and the fog effect. I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 5/5 Unique!!! So crazy and twisted that if felt like something I have never read before. As fresh as water during summer in the middle of the desert!!!

Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5  Great opening with an incredible ending. Good plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Love the setting, some interesting subplots with unexpected twists and turns. High level of enjoyment!

This was crazy!!! Very intense and mind-blowing. I was kept guessing and every time I thought I knew what would come next, the author would throw another unexpected twist. Can’t wait for more!

Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4/5, steam 5/5  Some would say not very romantic 🙂 I don’t even know what to say. This was really hot, but at the same time really painful. It hurt so bad, and I guess because of that it was so good. Agonizing romance!!!

Writing Style: 5/5 New to me author that have already blown my mind. Amazing characters, interesting plot, great romance, with wonderful smut. Work of a wordsmith!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…

Aurora was afraid of touch, but she ended up allowing a lot of people touching her.

Another thing, in my opinion she forgave them all too fast, not enough groveling. 🙂

Oh, the cliffhanger… don’t let me start on it. 🙂 The only reason I’m not going crazy with it, is because I already have book 2 in my kindle.

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like dark romance; you MUST read this because is EXCEPTIONAL!!!
