Dear Jerk Across the Street, sorry for accidentally walking in on you and catching an eyeful of your—equipment. And hard pass on the open invitation to join you in the shower “anytime”, A-hole.
That’s the note I should’ve written. Instead I sent a pleasant and apologetic version.
Had I known Phoenix “Nix” Russo would’ve been the neighbor from hell, I’d have told him right where he could shove my words.
Nix is the big man on campus with everyone lined up at his games to make sure he knows it. Sure, he’s got piercing green eyes, abs that don’t quit and a smile that could set fire to a set of panties from a hundred yards away, but he’s also the biggest pain in my ass.
Dear Pink-Haired Menace, learn how to take a joke and stop being such a kill-joy...
Elle Masterson called the cops on one of my parties—again. My sweet talking usually gets me out of trouble, but this time it got me into a nice pair of silver handcuffs. Now I’m on a reputation rehab tour with a stop at a spring break community service project.
Guess who’s my new boss?
Now we’re shoulder to shoulder, sweaty, tired and…she’s not anything like I expected. There might just be a heart under that hardass exterior. She’s invading my dreams and I can’t shake the feeling she’s the key to unlocking a piece of me that I’ve hidden away.
It’s only a matter of time until she finds out why I’m really here.
Maybe I can break through her walls and into her heart before that happens...one screw at a time.

This is book #2 of Fulton U series, but it can be read as standalone. I haven’t read the first book and I completely understood the story.
‘Hey guys, this is the chick who walked into the wrong house like a dumbs, gawked at me naked, and then exploded a condom factory all over the street’
Addictiveness: 5/5 This was a fast-paced, fun story that kept me laughing and going until the end. As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 5/5, heroine 4.5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Multidimensional characters that acted their age and had layers to them. They really reminded me of my daughter that is in college and it was refreshing to read a new adult book that both characters were mature enough, but not too mature.
Nix was the perfect hero. So easy to love him. He was the smart, a good leader, polite, caring, fun, great friend, wonderful grandson and amazing boyfriend. He was mature for his age, had a good head on his shoulders and interesting life plans. He could have a multimillion dollar contract, but he wanted simple things. He was never shallow and he was really hot and very sexy. Yes!
Elle was a wonderful heroine. I only took a half star from her, because she did cause many unnecessary problems because of ghosts from her past. Elle was hardworking, caring, smart, capable, a good daughter, an amazing friend, a good, even though insecure, girlfriend and when she relaxed, she was a lot of fun. She evolved a lot during the book and she was really easy to love.
I can’t wait to read Jules book. I love her and I think their story will be a lot of fun. I’m also going to read Reece’s book, because I love the whole group of friends.
Villains.. antagonists… I guess one villain from Elle’s side and a redeemable antagonist from Nix’s side. They were both well developed and made sense to the story.
All characters were easy love, connect and understand. !!!
Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This cover is sexy but very generic. It could be part of many books. I’ve missed something that felt specifically from this story. I love the title and the subtitle add beautifully to the story. The colors and font used were good and the picture in black white worked. I would probably buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!
Freshness: 4/5 I’ve liked. There are so many college contemporary romance out there, that is hard to be creative. But Ms. Hughes brought an interesting plot with refreshing mature characters. The overall concept of the book felt unique! As fresh as vanilla ice cream during a summer day!
Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5 Exciting opening for an amazing ending. A very believable plot, with great subplots and a unexpected twist. Great dialogues in a fun, fast-paced plot. Great setting and highly enjoyable until the end. Highest level of enjoyment!
Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 5/5, steam 4/5 This was a slow burn romance that grew in a perfect pace. The couple started as enemies, until they finally had to spend time together and were able to let go of their preconceived notions. From there they become great friends, fun lovers, until finally amazing couple. Their chemistry was always there in a low burner, until it exploded and they couldn’t keep their hands away from each other. The smut was great, with wonderful descriptions, but all very pertinent to the story. Passionate love!
Writing Style: 4.5/5 The plot was fun, refreshing and interesting. The characters are stars here, because they were all very lovable. The romance was cute and sexy. The dialogues and descriptions of the scenes were fun and hot. The writing was clean with no major loopholes. Crafty writing!!!
Freshness: I guess originality… is hard to be original in a contemporary romance in a college where the quirk girl gets the quarterback. But who needs a brand new concept, when the plot is written so well?
I haven’t read the first book of the series and it wasn’t needed to understand this story. I will go back and read it only because I love the characters and their friendship and would love to see more of them all together.
This book started with a BANG and ended with a BANG BANG. Really, the twists at the end came out of nowhere and I was in shock! Really crafty writing by the author.
This was a good feel romance that left me wanting more!!!
32.5/35 STARS – 4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Would I recommend? Definitely! For all lovers of new adult college romance.
Would I re-read this book/series? Yes! I would reread the book and I will follow the series.
Would I read more from the author? I’m looking forward to.
“I’ve missed this,” he whispered against my lips.
His fingers tightened around the hair at the base of my neck. Tilting my head to the side, he ran his lips over my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
One second we were standing in the middle of the pitch-black room and the next the whole world tilted. I landed against Nix’s solid chest.
“Are you okay?” I tried to push myself up.
He tightened his hold around me. “The stress balls, sweatpants, and t-shirts cushioned my fall.”
“Thank you for today.” I peppered his jaw with kisses.
“Thank you for letting me do this for you.” The outline of his erection pressed against the front of my mound. Just one inch higher…
He wrapped his hands around my waist and lifted me, perfecting the angle.
I shuddered and ground my hips against him. Someone walked by the door, but we didn’t stop—couldn’t stop.
His hands cupped my ass, dragging me harder against him. The texture of his jeans added extra sensation against my clit. I was on fire for him through two layers of clothes.
My short gasps and his low groans were the only sounds in the room other than the fabric friction.
“We should get back out there.” I raked my teeth along the side of his neck.
“You’re probably right.” His hips shot up and I wanted to scream in frustration that he wasn’t inside me, but I didn’t want to break from the thrumming pleasure rushing all over my body.
“In a second.”
“In a minute.” His tongue danced with mine in time to the rhythm of our hips. Laughter rang out in the hallway behind the door, but I couldn’t stop. If someone came in, there wasn’t anything that would stop me from dry-humping Nix into next week.
