This is book #1 of the Dragon Triad Duet. It does end in a cliffhanger.

Contains issues and situations some may find triggering.

Wow!!! This was definitely one of the best books that I’ve read this year. So, don’t expect a very coherent review, because I’m still in shock. Feeling it all!!!

I don’t usually give 5 stars to first part of duets or series, because the plot is not complete, I usually ended feeling like I’m missing something. I mean, I am missing a lot here, but I have to coherent with my feelings also, because at the end of the day, reading can be a huge cathartic experience, and this book was AMAZING!!!!

INEVITABLE LOVE!!!

33.5/35 STARS –  5 STARS (between 33.5 stars and 35 stars)

Addictiveness: 5 Character: 5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 5 Plot: 5 Romance: 5 Writing Style: 5

Action 4/5 Angst 5/5 Darkness 5/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of dark, twisted romance!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 5/5 This book hooked me from the beginning, and it kept me at the edge of my seat. I’ve missed lunch with my family because I didn’t feel like I could let go of the book. As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Very complex characters with amazing background stories and great evolution during the book.

Hannah was an awesome heroine. That girl was so relatable and she felt so true. She was very strong and it was really unexpected. At the beginning I felt like I would dislike her, because maybe she would be a weak character. But her growth throughout the story was incredible.

There is only one choice left-live that pretty, fragile lie and craft the walls of your own ignorant little cage around you.

Like a moth dancing on the edges of a flame.

Rafe was AMAZING! Yeah, I know. I’ve a complete weakness for the jerks. 🙂 It has to be true, because I always ended up falling in love with them. He loved to pretend he didn’t care, and I laughed a lot with it. It had a bit of immaturity his reactions and they were cute. He really reminded me so much of my youngest son, so I felt he was also really easy to connect.

Secondary characters they were all really in the background, but they all felt relevant to the story and to the main characters reactions.

Villain/antagonists one very clear villain a few antagonists that added to the subplots.

They were easy (ok, maybe not that easy) to love, to connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 2/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one was perfection!!! Really, this art was amazing, and it added to the story, it didn’t feel generic at all. The colors and the font, everything! I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 5/5 ONE-OF-A-KIND! Really everything about this plot was weird, creepy and it worked so well. Crazy, but it felt like an out-of-this-world concept and I can’t wait for more. As fresh as water during summer in the middle of the desert!!!

Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5  Amazing opening with an incredible ending even though with a cliffhanger. Superb plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Great setting, a few really good subplots with unexpected twists. Highest level of enjoyment!

This story was intense, creepy and it kept me uneasy the entire time. I never knew what to expect next. If felt so complicated, but the author cohesive writing made it all make sense.

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4.5/5, steam 4/5  Some would say not very romantic :). I love a twisted, angsty, dark love story. It was intense, shocking and hot as hell. The smut had wonderfully descriptive scenes and the main couple was explosive together. There is such a tiny line between love and hate and the authors explored it well here. It felt like unavoidable love!!!

Writing Style: 5/5 I think this was my first book from the author and I’m already feeling like, how I have been missing out, because I’m certain this is not a one-hit wonder, but the type of writing that I must read everything. Creative plot, relatable characters, explosive romance, original concept, everything with a clean, cohesive writing. Work of a wordsmith!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…

I really missed the male POV. I caught myself many times wanting to know what Rafe was thinking at a specific moment.

I understand the need of cliffhangers, it doesn’t mean that I have to like them. 🙂

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like dark romance; you MUST read this because is EXCEPTIONAL!!!

Finally, I sigh in defeat and look up, meeting his watchful gaze directly. “I don’t have any money.”
He raises an eyebrow. “Did I ask for money?”
“I don’t have anything else you might want either,” I snap.
“I doubt that…” He pointedly eyes the neckline of my dress, and I shift uncomfortably. It’s cut differently than my tried and true sweaters, displaying more of my collarbone and a glimpse of the flesh beneath. I can’t stop myself from crossing my arms over my chest, and he flashes that dangerous grin in triumph. “In fact, I can think of a few things you could offer—”
“Get out.” I slam the ledger shut and turn away as if just telling him to leave could make it true.
But he doesn’t. Neither does he creep toward my corner to drill in his taunt—and that’s the worst part. I have to endure him, but without the tools I’m used to utilizing. Silence and the safety of my own head don’t work where he is concerned.
His breathing is too noisy, grating and raspy. His scent is overpowering, sneaking into my lungs with every breath. Around him, my thoughts don’t form the protective wall I’m used to hiding behind. They fracture. Splinter.
And he breaks through easily.
“I want to see you hop, bunny,” he murmurs, just when I think I might scream to counteract his presence. “Without the dowdy little sweaters or the boring little mask. I want to prove you wrong. I didn’t run last time. I just gave you a taste. It’s up to you if you want more but with no excuses. No chance to cry assault.”
I bristle at his tone, wrapping my arms around my waist even tighter. If I hope to find comfort in the action…I don’t. His gaze slips beneath the barrier, creeping over me without permission. I can practically feel his gaze rasping along my skin. “What are you talking about?”
“Tonight,” he repeats. “Dragon’s Head. You can even bring your little friend if you want.”
Dragon’s Head. The name conjures the image of neon lights and raucous dancing. “The club?” I frown. “Why would I go there with you?”
He laughs, and his steps resonate through the floor. Alarmed, I turn to watch him move, but he takes his time, giving me every chance to cower and back away.
I don’t recognize the way my breathing hitches as he comes closer. How my nerves tense as he raises his hand, deliberately inching toward my cheek.
“D-Don’t touch me—”
“I have touched you,” he reminds me. “Don’t kid yourself into believing you don’t want more.”
“More of what?” I force myself to meet his gaze only to regret it.
I wish his eyes gleamed in that mocking, cruel way, but their stare is flat and empty. “More of what could happen the next time I have my fingers inside you.”
