Welcome to Crestwood University...
Where smiles conceal secrets.
Gossip runs rampant.
And everyone hides the truth.
Sophia Galloway has no idea what she’s walking
into when she transfers to Crestwood University.
Returning to Texas was her only goal.
But nothing could prepare her for stepping foot
on a campus where no one is what they seem.
In a world where frat guys think they can do no wrong.
And sorority presidents think they run the show.
Sophia’s about to find out what happens when she
unknowingly crosses the wrong guy,
pisses off the wrong sorority sister,
and refuses to play by anyone else’s rules.
A life will be lost.
Lies will be told.
Hearts will be broken.
And secrets...well secrets are meant to be revealed.
Is there anyone she can trust?
New Adult, Contemporary, Romance Suspense, Enemies-to-Lovers
First Person, Dual-POV
This is a stand-alone romance that I could see becoming a new adult series.
You’re the reason I smiled for the first time in a long freaking time and meant it.
This was a romantic suspense with nice plot and a very unexpected twist. Of all the things I had imagined while reading, I never guessed all the twists and turns the story took.
New adult, college romance!!!
29/35 STARS – 4 STARS (between 28 stars and 31 stars)
Addictiveness: 5 Character: 3.5 Cover: 4 Freshness: 4 Plot: 4.5 Romance: 4 Writing Style: 4
Action 2.5/5 Angst 2/5 Darkness 1/5 Humor 3/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 3/5
Would I recommend? Yes, for anyone that enjoys college romance with a bit of suspense and a dash of sexiness.
Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!
Would I read more from the author? I will be on the look out for her work.
Addictiveness: 5/5 The story had an interesting plot that kept me guessing from the beginning. I got hooked to the banter between the couple and I read this book in one sitting. As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 3/5, heroine 4/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 3/5, real 4/5 Characters with potential and a bit mysterious.
Sophia was a strong woman. She had already overcome a few obstacles and was ready to conquer more at a new school. She never allowed Chase to get the upper hand. She fought for what she believed.
Secondary characters There are some interesting ones. I could see this easily becoming a series with several of their friends having their own story. I would love to start with Valerie.
Villain/antagonists There was one very clear villain and a not so clear one. There are also a few sprinkles of antagonists throughout the book.
Even though the characters were not very complex, they were all easy to love and connect!!!
Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 4/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This was a good cover, but a bit generic. The art is good, the guy is very hot and I like how the picture was overexposed, but I wanted to see more of the story in it, maybe a subtitle that would hint to the story. I loved the title and I really like the font and colors used for the cover. I would probably buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!!!
Freshness: 4/5 Like most contemporary romance, there is nothing over-the-top in originality, but there are a few surprises and some great twists here.As fresh as mint mentos!!!
Plot: believable 3.5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 4/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5 Good opening with wonderful ending. Interesting plot, with fantastic dialogues and great pace. Lovable setting, interesting subplots with unexpected twists. High level of enjoyment!
The author kept me guessing until the end of the story. This plot was filled with twists and turns that I never saw it coming.
Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 4/5, description 4/5, development 4/5, steam 3.5/5 This was a good romance. I loved the banter between the hero and heroine. I laughed a few times with them. I also liked how lovable and caring Chase become. Cute romance!!!
Writing Style: 4/5 Characters with potential for a new series, wonderfully woven plot, cute romance with sexy smut, addictive story… everything in a clean, cohesive writing. Great writing!!!
Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…
Chase was a mystery. He was a jerk without a reason it seems. Even the logic behind why he was a jerk didn’t convince me. At the same time, he turned a 180 and became very sweet and caring boyfriend. I liked him, but I wished I knew him better. After all the mystery I ended up not really knowing him. There was not enough time for more growth from his character.
I heard footsteps behind me and realized I’d failed to elude him.
“What are you doing?” Chase asked, his hands gripping the straps on his backpack.
“You know what I’m doing.”
He released one of his straps and slipped his hand into mine.
My eyes shot down to where his big hand was linked with mine. I clenched my teeth. “Let go.”
He shook his head as I tried releasing my hand.
“So, it’s been you all along?” I said.
“The one I need to be careful of.”
He scoffed, before leading me away from the elevator.
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked, trying to resist him but he was too strong.
He said nothing.
My eyes shot around. There was no one around to help me if I screamed. I’d seen enough movies to know you never go to a second location with your kidnapper.
He moved us through the high shelves filled with old books until we were in a deserted corner of the library.
My heartbeat thrashed as he backed me into a wall, my backpack softening the hard wall behind me. His hands landed on the wall above me and he kept me still with the weight of his body.
“You are the most infuriating girl I’ve ever met,” he said, his blue eyes staring into mine.
As nervous as I felt, I wouldn’t let him see my fear. “Then let me go and you never have to see me again.”
“Oh, I wish it were that simple.”
I swallowed around the lump that had shot to my throat.
“I can’t stop thinking about you, Soph.”
My eyes widened.
“And it’s driving me fucking crazy.”
