This is book #2 of the Dragon Triad Duet. You must have read the first book to understand this one. It has an amazing HEA and it gives closure to the duet.
Contains issues and situations some may find triggering.
Yes. This was my most expected book of 2020. As always Ms. Sky didn’t disappoint! Wonderful conclusion for this dark, twisted romance!!!
Even tough I still think Moth, the first book of the series, has been my favorite read of this year, this couldn’t be anything else than a 5 stars. I’m not saying this wasn’t fantastic, but Moth had the surprise factor going.
34/35 STARS – 5 STARS (between 33.5 stars and 35 stars)
Addictiveness: 5 Character: 5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 5 Plot: 4.5 Romance: 4.5 Writing Style: 5
Action 5/5 Angst 5/5 Darkness 5/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5
Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of dark, twisted romance!
Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!
Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!
Addictiveness: 5/5 This series hooked me on the first page of the first book and I have caught myself thinking about it from time to time. This story arch was intense, suspenseful, unexpected and dark. It kept me on the edge trying to guess what would come next at the same time afraid of what could be next. As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Very complex characters with amazing background stories and great evolution during the book.
Hannah really grew in this book. She opened up her wings, broke the barrier of her emotions and left her inertia. She bloomed even while burning her moth’s wings.
Rafe was still AMAZING! Yeah, I know, he was still a jerk that liked to pretend he hadn’t fallen, but he was so sweet within his hurt feelings. It was impossible not to adored him.
Secondary characters they were all relevant to the story, each having there one moment to shine here on the second installment.
Villain/antagonists two clear villains here, and sort of comparable in their abuse and treacheries way. A few minor antagonists, but also important to the equation.
They were easy (ok, maybe not that easy) to love, to connect and understand!!!
Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 2/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one was perfection!!! I love how together with the cover of the first book, they tell a story on their own. It felt personally made for this duet and gave me all the feels. I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!
Freshness: 5/5 ONE-OF-A-KIND! Really everything about this plot was weird, creepy and it worked so well. Here the author finished putting the pieces of the puzzle, but she still kept throwing twists everywhere. As fresh as water during summer in the middle of the desert!!!
Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5 Amazing opening with an incredible ending. Superb plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Great setting, a few really good subplots with unexpected twists. Highest level of enjoyment!
OMG, what can I say about this plot… it has a bit of everything. It started with the angst of the darkness after Hannah, added the mystery of the women, packed with action and intertwined with the heat and sexy tension of the couple.
Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4/5, steam 4/5 Some would say not very romantic :). They were still having hate/sex, which I love. 🙂 But it was a little less physical on this second book. It was still hot as hell, but in comparison to the first book, it took a second seat to all the action and angst going on. Fiery romance!!!
Writing Style: 5/5 It is perfect! Yeah, I know I like to say I don’t believe in perfection, but Ms. Sky gives everything I want and need as a reader. Intricately well written plot, multidimensional characters with great personal growth inside the story arch, steamy, believable romance and panty-wetter smut. Work of a wordsmith!!!
Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…
I really missed the male POV. I caught myself many times wanting to know what Rafe was thinking at a specific moment.
This was out-of-this-world amazing, but if I compared to the first book of the duet:
- this one was less scary. Maybe because I already knew the evil, and was expecting.
- The smut here was great, but the tattoo parlor scene of the first will be forever tattoo on my brain! 🙂
Saying all that, this was definitely a 5 stars read, I only with I could give 6 stars to Moth!!
