For as long as I could remember, Theodore West was in my life as the support system I needed when my parents were too busy building our family’s future.

He offered me shoes to dance on, a shoulder to absorb my tears, and the harsh reality of where my life was leading when I was at my lowest point.

And when the future my parents planned derailed after a statewide scandal, I had no choice but to fantasize about one for myself that didn’t involve them.

But Theo? He was always in it.

My father’s best friend.

The man who would undoubtedly end me if I didn’t end him first.

This is a stand-alone story.

I knew the easel held the final piece of the collection, a collection I named “Color Me Pretty”.

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A READ FOR EVERYBODY, NOT ONLY IS TABOO, BUT IT DEALS WITH PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS THAT MAY BE A TRIGGER FOR SOME.

Not at all what I was expecting… MORE!

I love a good taboo, forbidden story and that was what I was expecting here. But this was more. It had a big psychological part in it, not only about the taboo, but about self-awareness, self-acceptance.

I loved the couple and I really liked the romance!

Forbidden love!!!

31/35 STARS –  4 STARS (between 28 stars and 31 stars)

Addictiveness: 4 Character: 5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 4.5 Plot: 3.5 Romance: 4.5 Writing Style: 4.5

Action 2/5 Angst 4/5 Darkness 3/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 3/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for anyone that likes forbidden romance.

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? I will definitely read more from her.

Addictiveness: 4/5 I loved the characters and the idea of the plot. The story was very intriguing and kept me guessing until the end. I was stuck on the pace sometimes, but it was an overall great experience. As addictive as pizza!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Multifaceted characters with amazing story arch and lots of layers to them.

Della was a great heroine. That girl was very strong, even though she showed all her flaws here. She went through a lot, but she always persevered. It was easy to forget sometimes her age, because she was very wise for someone so young.

Theo was an amazing hero. Yes, he was stuck on their age difference and whom she was, but that felt real and very believable. At the same time, he was very loyal and had always been there for her.

Secondary characters There were a lot of interesting characters and some of them I would love to read their own book. They all felt very pertinent to the story.

Villain/antagonists One clear villain, a few antagonists to add angst to the story.

Even though they were all complex, they were also easy to love, connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This cover was amazing. Really, this is part of the story, and it feels like a chapter of the book. I also loved the title, the colors and the fact that it looks like a painting. I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!!!

Freshness: 4.5/5 This felt very unique. Even though it was a contemporary romance, how the author explored the forbidden romance seemed original. The story also had lots of twists and turns. As fresh as mint tea!!!

Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 3.5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 4/5, opening 4/5, pace 3/5, setting 4/5, subplots 3.5/5, twists 5/5  Good opening with great ending. Interesting plot, with fantastic dialogues and an ok pace. Good setting, interesting subplots with unexpected twists. Good level of enjoyment!

I really liked the concept of this plot, but I had trouble with some conclusions and some things that felt inconclusive.

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 3.5/5, steam 4/5  It took a while to take off, but when it did, it burned. It was hot! The painting scene, a work of art!!! Forbidden romance!!!

Writing Style: 4.5/5 Very well-rounded characters, with good plot concept, and great romance. Everything was tied in a cohesive, clean writing. Great, enticing writing!!!

But Theo was not the kind of man you controlled, least of all when he was worked up. He was the man you let control you, and you did it with a smile.

Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…

Plot:

I loved the idea of the plot, but because it was an emotional, intense story I felt lost a few times, and being dragged in others.

There were lots of conflicts going on, but they all were solved too easily, except the internal conflicts that were pulled throughout the story.

I liked them, but there were a plethora of characters and too many things happening at the same time.

The psychology in me, loves a good psychological war to be conquer, so that was a total hit with me.

Then paint us how you see us. Scarred. Broken. Beautiful Make it real, because reality fucking hurts, Della.

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like forbidden romance; you MUST read this if you are looking for an emotional, poignant love story!!!

“I’m surprised you didn’t get sick of me always bugging you to dance then.” I’d been relentless and he always did as I asked. My father joked I’d had him wrapped around my finger, a place I wanted him to always remain, even if that was selfish.
“I didn’t mind.”
“You never used to—” I squealed when he lifted me up and guided my feet to his shoes where they rested as soon as he dropped me back down, then started laughing when he kept dancing just like that. Like the old times.
“I enjoyed those days, Della,” he told me honestly, his face drawing back ever so slightly until his breath caressed the side of my face.
“You did?”
Half his lips quirked up. “I did. Those were simpler times when there was nothing heavy to worry about.”
I licked my lips as his nose grazed mine. My heart sped in my chest as I closed my eyes again and willed him to close the gap between our lips, but it never came. So I said, “Things now are certainly complicated because of my father…”
His sigh was felt in my soul, heavy and burdened, and I wanted to know his thoughts. “It isn’t just your father that makes things complicated now.”
“It isn’t?”
A pause. “No, Della, it isn’t.”
