Camden King Is My Cocky, Badass, Boss And He's Coming For Me...
I work for him.
But I can't stand him.
I slept with him once.
And he never lets me forget it.
He thinks he can take me again…and again…and again.
But he can't…I won't let that happen.
I just have to last thirty days to prove it to him.
And hopefully I can last..

Contemporary Romance.

Book #1 of series, that is a spin-off of another series.

  • Addictiveness: Medium-low addictiveness. This was a fast, fun read.
  • Character: hero 3.5/5, heroine 3.5/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 3.5/5, real 3.5/5  Overall, they are ok characters. Cam is the quiet type. He is an observer that only takes action when needed. That worked ok with most people, but with Jade, not so much. Jade has had bad experiences with men. From her father, to her ex-boyfriend, she learned men couldn’t be trusted. So, she decided that one-night stands were her thing, until Cam. I like these characters, but I wanted their arch more developed. I was left with some questions at the end.
  • Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 4/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I like the art, is sexy. I even like the idea of the strong, bold color, but I wish for a bit less, so I could see the art better. The title was great, but I wish the font a bit smaller, again just a little bit so I could see the art better. Overall, I think I would buy this book by its cover.
  • Plot: believable 3/5, conflict 3.5/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 4/5, opening 4.5/5, pace 3.5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5  Great opening and wonderful ending. Interesting conflict and fun dialogues. Fast-paced with enough suspense to enhance the story. One unexpected twists that made the story enjoyable. Great prologue and amazing epilogue.
  • Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 3/5, steam 4/5 Great romance! Their chemistry could be felt from the beginning. The smut was great with several scorching hot scenes. The description was great and their love story was well developed.
  • Writing Style: Ok characters, good plot, great romance.

  • Freshness: I mean, this is a bit predictable, but when you a good plot and strong enough characters to carry on,  it is enough.
  • Plot:  It was a bit confusing. Some parts a bit rushed others not so much. It finished with a few loose ends. Specially, I believe because this is a spin-off from a different series, that I would have enjoyed more, if I had read the Cousins series.

This was a fun, sexy read! I’m interesting in Cutter and Sloan’s book.

There's something about Cutter King that reminds me of every bad relationship I've been in and every bad decision I've ever made…
He’s desperately good looking, but he knows it.
He's built sturdy and strong like a tank, but he's reckless.
He looks like every woman's fantasy, yet for me he’s a nightmare.
Too bad I owe him big time.
And now he’s moved in next door to collect.

Book #2 of  a series, that is a spin-off of another series.

  • Addictiveness: Medium addictiveness. This was a fast, fun read.
  • Character: hero 4.5/5, heroine 4/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 4/5, real 4/5  I really like Cutter. In fact, I sort of knew from the first book that I would like him better than Cam. He is alpha, hot, fun, sexy. He mess up a lot, 🙂 but at the same time he wants Sloan bad. It takes him a while to truly understand his feelings, but from the beginning it was obvious he really wanted her. Sloan, she wasn’t as easy to like as Cutter, but I also think she was a better character than Jade. I believe both characters were better developed here. Their story arch is good and interesting. Wow, I’m looking forward to meet Stone.
  • Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 4/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I like the art, is sexy. I even like the idea of the strong, bold color, and I believe the purple worked better than the red. It is easier to see the art. The title was great, but I wish the font a bit smaller. I would buy this book without reading the blurb.
  • Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 4/5, opening 4.5/5, pace 4/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5  Good plot. It didn’t have the suspenseful note of the first book, but it is more rounded.  Sloan and Cutter’s story has a beginning, middle and ending. Even though I haven’t read the Cousins series, I understood their story arch. They met really young and Cutter obsession with Sloan started then. I really liked how Cutter stood up for himself with Cam and I understood how hard must be to be left aside for a bit because of Jade. I liked the conflict. And, Stone… yes! Now that is promising.
  • Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 3/5, steam 4/5 Great romance! Hot hot hot! Cutter is a hunk! Really, his dominance streak is better than Cam in my opinion. Some great smut here. Good love story.
  • Writing Style: Great characters, good plot, sexy romance.

  • Freshness: That is nothing complete original in this book, but they are interesting and well written. A good story is not only being original.
  • Plot:  I feel like this series is dependable of the Cousins series. I feel like I’m missing pieces, that I will probably only understand after reading the Cousins. I really must read Roman’s book. He is such important character for this series.

In my opinion, this book was better than the first, with Cutter being my favorite character of the entire series. Now, that is Stone…

First he lied to me.
Then he seduced me.
Now he’s broken me.

I knew him as a boy, but now the boy is back—a hardened criminal.
Big as hell. Blindingly beautiful. Sexy as sin.
Dripping with attitude. Covered in ink.
And carrying a colossal chip on his shoulder.

I want to keep my distance.
Needing to protect myself and my virginity.
He’s awakening parts of me that I never knew were dormant.
Ruining me for any other man.

I should have known that nothing this good would be healthy for me.
He’s a liar. A thief. A convict. A deviant.
I need to walk away from this man who’s breaking me piece by piece.
Only my heart is not cooperating.

Book #3 of  a series, that is a spin-off of another series.

  • Addictiveness: Medium addictiveness. This was a fun read with a  bit of angst that kept me going until the end.
  • Character: hero 4/5, heroine 4/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 4/5, real 4/5 Both Stone and Tiny are easy to like, connect and understand. Really, Stone is no hero. His path is not easy. There is a lot angst here. But he falls for Ariana and he truly transforms himself. This is a story of how love can change a person. How someone can do good with a second chance. Ariana is fierce. Really, she is this tiny thing, but she gives back to Stone as good as she gets. She is my favorite heroine of the three books of the series.
  • Cover: art 4.5/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 4/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I love this one. Really the art is great. The wet effect is sexy. The couple is hot. The titled is fitting and the color works. My only complain would be the font should be a bit smaller, at least for the author’s name. I would definitely buy this book without reading the blurb.
  • Freshness:This story doesn’t have anything that I could say “oh, wow, so original”, but the overall concept of the book feels FRESH. There was some unexpected twists here and it kept me going until the end.
  • Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 3.5/5, enjoyment 4/5, opening 3.5/5, pace 4/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 5/5  This book has a totally different feel from the other two. It introduce a totally different character. So, instead of just throwing the lost king into the mix, the author wrote a book that takes us into Michael/Stone’s backstory. We really understand him and feel for him. In little details the author sort of connect this book to the other of the series, but is a slim connection. Only closer to the end we got a bit of the King brothers and I guess it ends in a sort of cliffhanger. I imagine that the fourth book will be with the Kings together. In the middle of telling the reader Stone’s story the author threw a bit of suspense with the drug dealer story. It was my favorite plot of the three books.
  • Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 3/5, steam 4/5 Great romance! OMG! One thing I have to say, these King brothers are hot and sexy! The smut in all three books is amazing. Here there are a few scorching hot scenes. Their love story is sexy and beautiful. Really, Stone really changes for Ariana.
  • Writing Style: Really good characters,  great plot, hot romance.

  • Plot:  If this was a stand-alone, I would say, almost amazing. But it was not. I’ve missed the Kings here. I know, the fact that we got a book to understand Stone will really benefit the future of the series. But I can’t deny, that I spent this entire story waiting for King reunion. It only felt a bit loose book inside the series arch.

In my opinion, this book was better than the first two books of the series, but it also felt like a stand-alone almost until the end.

29.5/35 STARS – 4 STARS  (4 stars between 28 stars and 31 stars)

Addictiveness: 4 Character: 4.5  Cover: 5 Freshness: 4  Plot: 4  Romance: 4 Writing Style: 4

  • Action 4/5
  • Angst 3/5
  • Darkness 1/5
  • Humor 3/5
  • Romance 5/5
  • Suspense/Mystery 3/5
  • Would I recommend?Sure. If you are looking for a fast, sexy romance with a bit of angst.
  • Would I re-read this book? Yes.
  • Would I re-read this series? Sure.
  • Would I read more from the author? I will follow this series.

You MAY read this because you followed the series; you SHOULD read this because you like sexy romance; you MUST read this because it has amazing characters!!!

About Lisa Lang Blakeney

I grew up in Philadelphia an only child gorging myself on daytime soaps, night time dramas, and romance novels. I write about strong alpha men and the smart women they seek to claim, and I tend to favor continuing storylines and sagas, although I will write a stand-alone novel when inspiration strikes.
I wrote my first novel COUSINS because I enjoy stories that contain something a bit taboo, alpha men, lots of dirty language, and mature content … so be warned:) If this sounds like the type of novels you enjoy too, then I’m the writer for you.
