Siena Calabrese is no longer the prized daughter of la famiglia. Her transgressions against her brothers and family have stained more than just her reputation. Her best chance at keeping breath in her lungs would be to sit down and shut up like she was taught to do. She definitely shouldn’t be feeding information to her family’s enemies. And yet, she is still willing to risk it all for a chance at forever with Johnathan Marcello. After everything, how could she not?

The disgraced one …

Johnathan Marcello’s life and secrets have now been put on display for everyone to see. There’s no hiding the things he’s tried to keep hidden, but maybe that’s the best thing that could have happened. Now he’s about to walk straight into a war between rival mafia families, and he’s got choices to make. His love is on one side, he’s on the other, and everybody is playing for keeps. He’ll play the game just as dirty as anyone else to get what he wants, even to the detriment of himself. For her, how could he not?

The shamed one …

It’s time that the forgotten king takes back his throne. It’s already been too long since it was taken from him.

But when has anything in this life been easy?

Erotic, Contemporary, Romantic Suspense; with mafia as a theme.

Dual-POV.

Book #2 of a series that is a spin-off of another series.

The perfect ending!!!

  • Addictiveness: Above the charts addictive! I almost read book one and two in one sitting. I think I’ve only stopped to feed my kids.
  • Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5  While John was the star of the first book, I believe Siena was the star here for me. Yes, we had John evolving a lot. Here he learned how to cope with his disease and trusting “his family” with his secret. But Siena, she was literally John’s strength. She was this amazing woman who risked it all for love. She threw caution away for his family, earning his family respect, but always for him. She supported him and put herself into a dangerous path because she truly believed that at the end love would conquer all. I also have to mention that I fell in love with Lucien. The father-son moments were my favorites. So beautiful!!!
  • Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers and I love to glimpse the story on the book art. This one is beautiful and sexy. I love the title and the colors used here. This cover matches the one of the first book, but I still missed something more from the story.
  • Freshness: ONE-OF-A-KIND! This is so perfect, that I’m out of words here. All I can say this is mafia seen from a different prism than the usual.
  • Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5  Only one word here: PERFECTION! Everything else I say here would be redundant.
  • Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 5/5, steam 4/5 They were in the middle of war, with stolen moments together. But their actions spoke louder than anything else. It was amazing! So believable! So real! Their love story broke me and mend me back.
  • Writing Style: Fabulous! Really, I’m shocked how good this was. Perfect characters with amazing plot and wonderful romance!!!!

  • It couldn’t be any better!!!

This was the perfect ending for a beautiful love story.

“You really fucking took me from the party to put me to bed, didn’t you?”

Lucian only grinned. “Just open the fucking door.”

John gave his father a look, but did as he was told. He slid the keycard through the slot, heard the lock beep, and then the tumblers roll. Pulling the handle down, the door opened easily under his hand.

He expected the room to be dark.

It was lit up.

He expected the room to be empty.

She stood there waiting.

Siena.

“John,” Siena greeted with one of her sweet smiles.

He was just … stuck.

Speechless.

Stupid.

Happy.

Awed.

All day, he had listened to whispers from his family about the Calabrese family, and the war raging between their organizations in the city. He heard them call them snakes, and untrustworthy. He listened as they made more plans to get rid of them entirely. There was no love lost between the Marcellos, and the Calabrese organization.

This war was apparently one of the bloodiest, and messiest the city had seen in a long while. There was not one person in John’s family who had any issue with saying openly and proudly how wonderful it would be once the Calabrese legacy was gone forever. Not to mention, how great it would be for the Marcellos to be the ones to do it.

Poetic justice after all the history, and bad blood.

And yet …

Here she stood.

In front of him.

Everything his family hated right now. Everything they were working to destroy, and to remove from their lives forever.

Except, his father had alluded to everyone working together to have Siena here for him. As though they were working with her in some way. As though, perhaps, they trusted her in some way. At least, enough to bring her here.

For him.

John really wanted to know what in the hell was up, and what he had missed out on, but not right now.

Right now …

“Your mother kept her company for a while today,” Lucian said, “and I figured she had probably had enough of being alone, and missing out. She can’t come downstairs, of course. We wouldn’t want our best asset at the moment being photographed with the rest of us, now would be?”

“No, we definitely wouldn’t,” Siena said.

John still had not found the right words to say.

His father didn’t seem to mind. With a clap of his hand to John’s shoulder, Lucian gave his son another smile, and a nod.

“Enjoy your evening, son.”

Fresh out of prison after serving a three-year sentence, Johnathan Marcello wants to get back to normal business as a mafia capo. The rules set out for him are clear—keep out of trouble, maintain a low profile, and stay stable. But stability is a delicate balance for a man like John, and shaky ground is only a single step away.

A chance encounter with a blue-eyed woman might just change his whole world.

Siena Calabrese’s life revolves around cooking numbers, and scrubbing books clean. After all, a girl is only useful to men in the mafia, if she isn’t totally useless. As long as she does what they want, then she can maintain the illusion of freedom. But illusions are only delusions in the grand scheme of her life, and reality is far more dangerous.

A man with secrets might just be the one thing she didn’t know she needed.

In this life, family is everything. Or, that’s how it should be.

Distrust.
Love.
Betrayal.
Loyalty.

Mix it all together, and it makes for a volatile city.

A war is coming.

Book #1 of a series that is a spin-off of another series.

Unique; emotional; unexpected!!!

  • Addictiveness: Above the charts addictive! This was fast-paced, intense, erotic with a dose of suspense. Very emotional! Couldn’t let go.
  • Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5  They are the stars here. The author has created multi-dimensional characters with depth and lots of feelings. John is perfectly imperfect! Really, he has a mental-illness and the author truly immerse the readers into his psyche, making it easy to understand his flaws and even though showing how tough it is to deal with it in real life. Siena is also amazing. She is a fighter, even though she is sort of a prisoner of her family. She is strong, even when she is exposing her weaknesses. She was the perfect counterbalancing system for John. Together they were better. Together they made sense.
  • Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers and I love to glimpse the story on the book art. This one is beautiful and sexy. I love the title and the colors used here. I only wished John would have gotten a bit of the spotlight also. (I know I’m picky). I would buy this book without reading the blurb, by just looking at this beautiful art work.
  • Freshness: ONE-OF-A-KIND! I love mafia themed romance, but this one is totally different than any other that I’ve read before. This takes out a bit of the myth of this super alpha guys that are so tough that they don’t have any weaknesses. At the same time, this also shows that big, powerful guys can have weaknesses and still be tough as nails. I like the duality created by the author and how she explored it.
  • Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5  Good opening and ok ending. Perfect conflict and dialogues very well written. Fast-paced with enough subplots to enhance the story. Lots of suspense with a few twists to make it even better. Full of emotional charged moments. Great plot!
  • Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 5/5, steam 3.5/5 Poignant! Beautiful! This romance hurts, but it feels very real. Their chemistry was undeniable and how their love story developed was really good. They have lots of hurdles in their way, but we can feel the love between them.
  • Writing Style: Fabulous! Really, I’m shocked how good this was. Perfect characters with amazing plot and wonderful romance.

  • I don’t even know. I’m even lucky that I have book #2 to start right now.

This was my first read by the author and I’m already a fan. Really, nobody can write something so beautiful and be a one-time-wonder. I’m certain she is the real deal and I can’t wait to read more from her. In fact, I must go back and read Marcello series.

33/35 STARS –  4.5 STARS (4.5 stars between 31.5 and 33 stars)
