Haley Stevenson seems like she's got it all together: cheer captain, "Princess" of Juniper Falls, and voted Most Likely to Get Things Done. But below the surface, she's struggling with a less-than-stellar GPA and still reeling from the loss of her first love. Repeating her Civics class during summer school is her chance to Get Things Done, not angst over boys. In fact, she's sworn them off completely until college.

Fletcher Scott is happy to keep a low profile around Juniper Falls. He's always been the invisible guy, warming the bench on the hockey team and moonlighting at a job that would make his grandma blush. Suddenly, though, he's finding he wants more: more time on the ice, and more time with his infuriatingly perfect summer-school study partner.

But leave it to a girl who requires perfection to shake up a boy who's ready to break all the rules.

Each book in the Juniper Falls series is STANDALONE:
* Off the Ice
* Breaking the Ice

  • Addictiveness: This story is light, cute and it grabs you without you even feeling it. I started reading and when I looked it was 5 a.m. (Thank you vacation!) I’ve finished in one sitting.
  • Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 4/5, real 4/5  I love them all. I said that on the first book of the series and I will say it again. The group of friends of Juniper Falls is amazing. They are all very interesting and their friendship is cool. Is refreshing to read YA books that most teens are not this really problematic group full of jerks and little divas. Yes, there are some like that, but in a smaller dosage, like in real life. Haley I knew would be an amazing character. Fletcher was a totally new character to me, and he was awesome. These characters have depth and are easy to love, connect and understand.
  • Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 4/5, color-font 4/5, buy 5/5  That is an easy choice. Looking at this, I would buy without reading the blurb. After reading the book, I can see Haley and a bit of Fletcher even though i had a feeling for a bit of longer hair for him. I love the glasses!
  • Plot: believable 3/5, conflict 3.5/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 4/5  I have to say I find a few things hard to believe, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. I love this town and how it portrays well a small town and their teens. The author gives enough conflict here, but without too much drama. There are some nice plot twists, it kind of kept me guessing until the end.
  • Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 4/5, description 4/5, development 4/5, steam 4/5  I love how the couple’s first became acquaintance, than friends until they found love. It was sweet, cute and sexy.
  • Writing Style: Great writing. The author wrote a totally different story from book one, within the same community, inside the same group of friends. If felt unique and not a repeat of the first book.

  • Plot: A few things were a bit harder to believe. I guess Fletcher’s job, was one of those I’m not so sure I could see it happening exactly like that.

I love Ms. Cross series. Lately I’ve been reading so many YA books that are too intense. This series feels like the perfect amount of fun, serious and cute. It’s not too heavy. There is some believable struggles, but not highly dramatic. Love is the key here. Friendships and relationships the most important part of the book.

Overall

  • Action 2/5
  • Angst 3/5
  • Darkness 0/5
  • Humor 3/5
  • Romance 5/5
  • Suspense/Mystery 2/5
  • Would I recommend? Yes. Yes. Yes. You MUST read this!!!
  • Would I re-read this book? Yes.
  • Would I re-read this series? I’m looking forward to it.
  • Would I read more from the author? Yes. Fun, cute and sexy!!! What is not to like?

You MAY read this because you followed the series; you SHOULD read this because you like cute love stories; you MUST read this because you want to see great FRIENDSHIP!!!

All is fair in love and hockey…

Claire O’Connor is back in Juniper Falls, but that doesn’t mean she wants to be. One semester off, that’s what she promised herself. Just long enough to take care of her father and keep the family business―a hockey bar beside the ice rink―afloat. After that, she’s getting the hell out. Again.

Enter Tate Tanley. What happened between them the night before she left town resurfaces the second they lay eyes on each other. But the guy she remembers has been replaced by a total hottie. When Tate is unexpectedly called in to take over for the hockey team’s star goalie, suddenly he’s in the spotlight and on his way to becoming just another egotistical varsity hockey player. And Claire’s sworn off Juniper Falls hockey players for good.

It’s the absolute worst time to fall in love.

For Tate and Claire, hockey isn’t just a game. And they both might not survive a body check to the heart.

  • Addictiveness: This story is different from what is out there. It has an amazing pace and it kept me reading in one sitting.
  • Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 4/5, real 4/5  I love them all. Friendship here is beautiful.  The group of friends of Juniper Falls is amazing. They are interesting, fun, sweet, sexy and have depth. Here there is no one-sided characters. They all have flaws and amazing qualities. Easy to love and connect! Claire is amazing, but Tate is a dream!!! I also love Roger. What a great step-dad.
  • Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 4/5, color-font 4/5, buy 5/5  Looking at this, I would buy without reading the blurb. I can see the characters on the cover, they seem believable.
  • Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 4/5  There is angst here, but is permeated with deep family relationship, amazing friendship and beautiful love story. You don’t feel heavy, even though there are some heavy topics.
  • Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 4/5, description 4/5, development 4/5, steam 4/5 I love the older girl deal. It’s different than usual and it was done here in a very sweet way. I love how they have always been part of each other, but it only could it be tangible at this moment of their lives. I love friends-to-love romance, and this one is amazing.
  • Writing Style: Great writing. Unique! The author has a light touch for serious matters and shows a care to character building that really made me interested in their lives.

  • Plot: I guess first book of a series always have to  introduce everyone, to give a good portrait of the setting, and because of this the romance sometimes felt like it wasn’t the star of the book. Both main characters had lots going on in their lives.

My first book from Ms. Cross, definitely not my last. I love her character-building and I look forward to meet them all.
