In my right hand I hold a hotel room key.
Which one do I pick?
The marriage? The key?

Adult Contemporary Romance
First Person, dual-POV
In the years I’ve been alone, I’ve used working out as a substitution for physical touch and affection. CrossFit became my wife, lifting weights became my sex, and running miles became my church.
Addictiveness: 5/5 This book hooked me from the beginning until the end. After that crazy beginning I kept wondering how would this work. As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Characters were multidimensional, with interesting layers to them. They have shown personal growth throughout the story and it felt very real.
Nash was a young widower that hasn’t been able to move on since tragedy destroyed the life he taught he would have. His personal growth during this book was huge and really believable. He become a perfect book hero because he was gorgeous, hardworking, loved his family and a very hot, loving boyfriend.
Caroline was a courageous woman that left a great salary with an established job to a small town, simpler job, but less stressful and more fulfilling. She took a leap of faith at life and was rewarded. She was very caring and patient. A great friend, wonderful girlfriend and worker.
So many interesting characters… even though this says standalone, I believe the other Gilbert’s brothers deserve their own book.
Villains… there are no villains or antagonists here, only life and the road blocks that come with it.
All characters were easy to love, connect and understand.
Cover: art 3.5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I have to say this art is pretty but very generic. It could be the cover of many other stories. The couple is gorgeous and hot, but are they Nash and Caroline? I don’t know. It was never mentioned they had piercing and head tattoos. At the same time, this title was so perfect and creative that I couldn’t say I didn’t like this cover. The moment that I found out the true meaning of the title I’ve become obsessed with it. I would buy this book by its cover probably without needing to read the blurb!
Freshness: 4/5 This was a contemporary romance based on a great plot concept. It felt fresh and original. As fresh as ice cream.
Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 2/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 4/5, subplots 3/5, twists 3/5 Extraordinaire opening and a great ending. Great dialogues with perfect pace that made the story believable. A bit of a lack of a conflict, with no major twist or creative subplots. Very high level of enjoyment!
I have to say, the lack of a major conflict made this story more believable, this felt a lot more like real life than if some crazy twist was added. But, personally, I’ve missed a BOOM. I’ve missed a moment of uncertainty.
Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 5/5, steam 3/5 This is a love story. The couple met and had a one night stand. Life threw them together, they become friends until more. It grew accordingly, it felt believable. It was beautiful. The steam was good, with great description.
Writing Style: 4/5 Crafty writing! Good plot with incredible characters. Believable romance with mouth-watering beginning. Clean, cohesive writing without any major loopholes.
Plot: I believe this plot needed a bigger conflict. Something to wow the reader. Maybe a plot twist somewhere. I don’t know. Their journey was beautiful, but I was always expecting the uncertainty.
The author was very crafty writing this book. She started with the BOOM, and from there created her plot. She made a believable love story with easy to love characters that you wanted be friends with.
Even though is a standalone, I would love to read books of the other Gilbert brothers.
